Keltis Organic Wines

Keltis wines are based on the principles of biodynamics. They are produced with great respect and in deep contact with nature. All Keltis wines are certified organic.

In the far eastern point of Slovenia you’ll find the lovely Keltis winery. The estate is run by the Kelhar family whose winemaking roots go all the way back to 1776. They have been specializing on organic wines since 1989, when son Miha took over and began taking part in wine fairs. His first original wine was CUVEÉ EXTRÊME, which finished second in the Orange Wine Festival in Vienna in 2009. The five hectare estate in the village of Bizeljsko produces up to 20 000 bottles per year making them a renowned boutique winemaker, with a label that is increasingly popular in Europe and North America. Among other orange wines are macerated Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.

Other ones in their range are classics such as Traminec and Muscat, sparkling Mario Brut and Rose. The family pride themselves on working in harmony with nature so their wines only come to the market when they are ready, thus ensuring the fruits are at their very best before harvesting and providing their optimum flavor.

VINTAGE 2016

This wine is a real aromatic bomb!

Color, Aroma and Taste: Dull yellow on appearance. On the nose this wine is a real aromatic bomb. It has a distinct aroma of sweet rose, coupled with light notes of pineapple. Judging on the smell, one would expect significant sugar residual, however the taste is unexpectedly clean and easy to sip. It exhibits a good balance between acidity and the perception of sweetness. Food pairing is best with spicier poultry and pork, and richer seafood dishes. This Traminec will preserve ageing for up to 5-8 years.

VINTAGE 2014

Very special taste and flavour.  Citric notes followed by traces of yeastiness. Natural. Organic. A "must try" sparkling wine. This is what a “natural” wine should taste like. This is a niche, small-production wine, but one that’s well worth going out of your way to find.

Color, Aroma and Taste: Pale yellow colour signals for a crisp and fresh sparkling wine. On the scent it exhibits citric notes as well as traces of yeastiness. Flavour of this bubbly is crisp and fresh, with enough body to carry light dishes such as seafood or entrees. Sugar and acidity act in harmony, which rounds up into a well-balanced palette of flavours. Ageing potential of 5 years.

Wine to remember. Complex, elegant and... so different!

Color, Aroma and Taste: Intense orange hue with cloudy appearance, which is due to the absence of filtering. On the palate, a delicious set of herbal notes, ripe fruits and aged notes prevails. In the mouth, this blend feels complex, yet elegant, but also so different. This play of 5 varieties is combined so as to embody the full-bodied character of Chardonnay, elegance of Riesling and Pinot Gris, as well as a hint of spiciness and complexity deriving from Traminer and Muškat Ottonel. Wine to remember. The aftertaste accents its full bodied structure, while the very end is loaded with impression of herbs.
